33rd Classic Magic is Back!

The Fountain City Classic (FCC) is an annual American football game featuring Fort Valley State University (Wildcats) and Albany State University (Golden Rams), two historically black universities (HBCU). The annual game is played at A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium in Columbus, Georgia.

The FCC rivalry between the Golden Rams and the Wildcats began in 1945 and relocated to the city of Columbus (1990) and became officially known as the Fountain City Classic. Fountain City Classic football weekend has an estimated attendance of 45,000 spectators drawn to the gathering at A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium and the grounds of South Commons.

The history of the Fountain City Classic and these two outstanding universities runs deep. Those who attend take great pride in this long-standing classic game and these universities. There is an overwhelming sense of community and camaraderie at the Fountain City Classic that allow students, alumni and surrounding communities to come together and celebrate both school’s heritage and battle it out on the football field, in the stands, between the bands and the dancers, and on the sidelines with cheerleaders, using a style and unique flavor to produce an unforgettable experience.

The Fountain City Classic has grown from a weekend of activities to a week-long celebration, focusing on community camaraderie and service.
