The Fountain City Classic is one of South Georgia’s premier events. The Fountain City Classic is the largest African American event staged in the greater Columbus, Georgia region according to the Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau. The Fountain City Classic benefits both participating schools, Albany State University and Fort Valley State University. The Fountain City Classic Committee will host its 33rd Annual Fountain City Classic Football Game in Columbus, Georgia at A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium on Saturday, November 4, 2023. It is estimated that a crowd of 45,000 spectators will be attracted to the gathering at Memorial Stadium and the South Commons area as well as live radio broadcast audiences in Columbus, Macon, Fort Valley and Albany.
